Hi! I am Zhijing Wang, a lecturer at the School of Statistics, Beijing Normal University. I joined BNU in July 2026.

I received my Ph.D. in Statistics from the School of Mathematical Sciences at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) in 2026, under the supervision of Prof. Tao Wang and Prof. Peirong Xu. I also hold bachelor’s degrees in Statistics from the School of Statistics and in Economics from the Business School at BNU, both awarded in 2022.

My research interests include factor analysis and its generalization, text analysis, sufficient dimension reduction, transfer learning, model selection, artificial intelligence, and biostatistics. I am particularly interested in using statistical models to understand and explain phenomena in artificial intelligence. More broadly, I am interested in applications of statistics and machine learning to biology, economics, and environmental science.

• Aug. 2026: Our paper SMART: A Modular Two-Stage Framework for Structural Representation Attribution has been accepted by Transactions on Machine Learning Research (TMLR).
• Jul. 2026: My paper Sparse Generalized Factor Models With Weaker Loadings has been accepted by Scandinavian Journal of Statistics (SJS).
• Nov. 2025: My paper Entrywise splitting cross-validation in generalized factor models: from sample splitting to entrywise splitting has been published online in Biometrics.
• Oct. 2025: I received the National Scholarship at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
• Aug. 2025: The accepted author version of our paper Data Thinning for Poisson Factor Models and its Applications became available online in the Journal of the American Statistical Association (JASA).
